About the series
Damian Williams grew up on the land. Both sides of his family worked the soil of what is now Zimbabwe ∞ but it is thanks to his mother that he has spent a lifetime working the soil himself, among her bountiful creations. She taught him to grow from his earliest memory, starting in Johannesburg, where she built a strawberry farm from a single garden bed into four acres. Planting and tending were never abstract to him ∞ they were how he was raised.
When he lost access to his farm at Theesecombe, he didn't stop. He said: "I lost the farm so that the city could become my garden." EarthBound is what grew from that.
Eco Eye is a weekly radio segment broadcast live on The Wireless ∞ Gqeberha's online radio station with a global reach. It is not a course taught from a textbook. It is a lifetime of land knowledge, offered freely, one Sunday at a time. Practical, grounded, and rooted in the Eastern Cape.
The series grows. New episodes recorded regularly. If there's a topic you'd like Damian to cover, get in touch.
